It has been around 10 months for me publishing design stories trying to simplify the concepts of UX for both Arabic/English speakers who are transitioning to UX. The journey is rewarding and I am, along with the community, are having a lot of fun.

Putting the fun aside, we learned, I bet I learned more. And one of the questions I get the most is “What is the best tool to start in UX UI”?

I am not going to discuss the validty of UX/UI as a title here, but this is what I get.

In this article, I will walk you through this story, let's go!

You are excited. You are about to start learning UX.

But are you asking the right question?

Tools first approach is like designing a good window.

You care only about creating the perfect window.

Once you finished, you don’t know how it fits!

Worse than that..

You can not even articulate your design decisions.

Understand first approach is about getting the big picture.

You fall in love with the problem you are trying to solve and the backstory of the project.

It’s about ideating many solutions.

No matter what the tool is.

Test, evaluate, and articulate the reasons behind our choices.

To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail

Don’t be that man, instead,..

and decide on the hammer later.

That’s about it :) If you like the story and you find it amusing and useful, do not hesitate to clap 👏 I would love to know if such content is helping and doing the purpose, feedback is our daily bread.

I publish these bi-weekly stories as a series tageting the new comers to help expose them to the field. If you want to be part of this journey, follow me on LinkedIn or Instagram.

Thanks!
